About Scriptorium
Scriptorium ehf. was established in 1996 by two translators with substantial experience of translating, editing and proof-reading of books and periodicals. The Latin word scriptorium means “a writing room”, such as those of medieval monasteries where manuscripts were translated, compiled and copied. It seemed a fitting name for a company specialising in translation and handling of text.
Our objective at Scriptorium is to combine personal service with the most up-to-date translation technology. We don’t work with agencies, but directly with our customers. This means we can tailor our services to meet their needs - whether these are for certified translations of legal documents, complex financial texts or effective marketing material. And ensure that the translations we deliver, promptly and dependably, will serve their intended purpose.

Keneva Kunz, PhD
Born in Winnipeg, Canada, Keneva earned her BA (hons.) and MA degrees at the University of Manitoba and her doctorate subsequently at the University of Copenhagen. She has worked in translation for over a quarter century. In tandem with her translation work she has taught translation studies at the University of Iceland and was an adjudicator for examinations to certify translators between Icelandic and English. She has been a member of the Association of Certified Translators in Iceland, the Institution of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) in the UK and the American Translators’ Association (ATA) in the US.

Helgi Skúli Kjartansson, cand. mag.
Born in Reykjavík, Helgi Skúli completed a BA degree in Icelandic and history, then a cand. mag. degree in history at the University of Iceland. He has worked as an independent researcher, writer, editor and historian, and for the last three decades as university teacher at the same university. He has authored numerous original and translated works and in addition has extensive and varied publishing experience as editor of journals and translations.
